Ewa Beach, sometimes known as Ewa Desert because of the dry, hot weather, is so different from the rest of the island. The sugarcane fields are gone, having been replaced with new houses. Each week new developments and projects begin. Ewa Beach is becoming a highly populated community filled with diverse cultures and opportunities. Many different kinds of people contribute to what Ewa Beach has become. The young families, the old, traditional families, and the military families; all have a different influence on the community.
Because of the many young children there was a need for an additional elementary school. Holomua Elementary is the forerunner in early education.
